About
This is a photography project that involves the portraits of Ethopian immigrants living in America.
This work deals heavly with the ideas of identity and culture. I photographed second and "1.5" generation immigrant Ethopians living in the United States. I wanted to capture the assimilation process yet also their struggle to maintain an Ethopian heritage. The result was a series of portraits that embody a feeling of cognative dissonance as well as uniqness that is the result of these polarizing forces in the subjects lives. A new identity is thus forged; one that I tried to capture sincerely in this work.
This is a work in progress.
